Turkman Youth Association

In January 2011, the Turkman Youth Association was awarded a Service Delivery Grant from ASGP to provide economic development and counseling for women and children who had previously worked the streets. Women learned skills in baking and produced pastries and sweets that were sold to the community to help generate income. Their children attended classes at the Association, which helped them learn basic education and kept them off the streets. During their grant, the Association produced more than 700 kilos per month, generating more than $500 in income for the participants. The Turkman Youth Association continues its operations beyond ASGP funding.
