Silk Fabrics Association

Herat Province in Western Afghanistan is known for its exquisite silk production. In March 2010, the Herat Women’s Silk Producing Association was started through funding from an ASGP Quick Impact Grant. The Association expanded to several centers throughout Hirat. Women gained skills that provide them with a steady income. The quality of production is high and association continues to be able to sell $1,500 in goods per month, with profits shared by each woman at the association.
